NEUZEITFILM – “BREAKING THE RULES”

Neuzeitfilm hat sich mit Dokumentarfilm-Produktionen wie „Krieg der Zukunft (Cyper soldiers)“, „Krieg gegen den Terror (War on terror)“ sowie „Breaking the Rules“ bewährt. Gleichzeitig vertreibt das Frankfurter Unternehmen auf dem europäischen Markt vor allem preisgekrönte US-amerikanische Dokumentarfilme, darunter einige Oscar-Nominierte sowie den mit dem in 2005 mit dem Oscar in der Kategorie „Best documentaries“ ausgezeichneten „Born into brothrels“.

LYONIA ist stiller Gesellschafter bei Neuzeitfilm und ist außerdem als Koproduzent am dem Dokumentarfilm-Projekt „Breaking the Rules“ beteiligt. Der 90minütige Film beschreibt Gegenkulturen in den USA, angefangen von der Jazz-Szene der Vierziger, über die Beatniks der Fünfziger, die Hippies der Sechziger und Siebziger, bis hin zum Hip-Hop der Achtziger und Neunziger. Die Dokumentation zeigt, wie diese Gegenkulturen entstanden, wie sie kommerzialisiert und schließlich zum Mainstream wurden. Der Produzentenfilm entstand über einen Zeitraum von mehreren Jahren und bezieht Interviews von herausragenden Persönlichkeiten der jeweiligen Bewegungen ein, wie etwa mit Peter Fonda (Easy Rider, Wild Angels), Nile Rogers (Musiker und u.a. Produzent von Madonna, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Eric Clapton) und RZA (Wu Tang Clan). Weiterer Koproduzent von „Breaking the Rules“ ist das ZDF in Zusammenarbeit mit Arte. Der Film wurde bereits vor seiner Fertigstellung in mehrere europäische Länder verkauft, außerdem konnten bereits ein Kinoverleiher und ein US-Vertrieb gewonnen werden.

Neuzeitfilm has established itself with the production of film documentaries like “Cyber Soldiers”, “War On Terror” and “Breaking The Rules”. At the same time, the Frankfurt based company is a big distributor for outstanding US film documentations to the European market. Among them, the Academy Award 2005 winner (‘Best documentary’) “Born Into Brothels”.

LYONIA is a silent partner of Neuzeitfilm and co-producing ambitious film project like the 90-minutes film documentary "Breaking the Rules". The film describes musical subcultures in the USA. Starting with the Jazz scene of the 40'ies, on to the Beatniks, the Hippies and finally reaching the Hip Hop of the Nineties, the documentary shows how these underground cultures were born, how they were commercialized and how they became mainstream movements.

"Breaking the Rules" was produced over the course of several years and includes interviews of highly reputed personalities like Peter Fonda (Easy Rider, Wild Angels), Nile Rogers (musician, producer of popular artists like Madonna, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton) and RZA (Wu Tang Clan). Additional co-producers of "Breaking the Rules" is German television channel ZDF in cooperation with pan-European channel Arte. Even before production was finished, the film documentary had been licensed to several European countries. In addition to that, a distributor for the US market has already been secured.
